VVonderXI gives a score out of 100 to player seasons in nine European leagues: the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the Eredivisie, the Primeira Liga, the Belgian Pro League and the Süper Lig.
It covers league seasons from 2010/11 onwards, for every player with at least 300 league minutes in the season. A small number of players are missing because our data provider does not carry them. Goalkeepers are listed but not scored, because the model does not yet measure goalkeeping.
One number per season. Comparable across leagues, and across eras.
Football has never been short of numbers. What it has lacked is a way to put a season in the Eredivisie next to a season in La Liga and have the comparison mean something. Goals do not travel between leagues. Minutes do not travel between eras. A rating out of 10 resets every week and forgets everything.
The VV Index is the model. The VV Score is what it returns, one number for one season, built from the same components whichever league the season happened in.
Scores sit in five bands. Accomplished, Standout, World Class, Iconic, and Generational. Very few seasons reach the top of that range, which is the point of having it.
VVonderXI is built and run from Ghent, Belgium.
